2009 Visual Art Competition Winners
The Napa Valley Mustard Festival's annual juried Art Competition, unveiled at Mustard Magic on January 31 at The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in St. Helena, had an impressive turn out of artists in January. Napa Valley abstract glass sculptor, Gordon Huether, Napa Valley Museum Director Rick Deragon and Mill Valley painter, Woodward Payne, juried 235 entries by 95 artists and selected 92 pieces by 63 artists.
The exhibit was offered at silent auction during Mustard Magic. Before the doors opened to the public at 7 pm, judges selected the prizewinners.

- Mt Tamalpais from Spencer Ave, oil, by Barbara Reinertson of San Rafael; and
- The Chef and the Butler, oil, by Thalia Stratton of San Francisco.

- Napa Valley Spring-Wild Mustard, textile, by Linda Hubbard of Benicia;
- Investment Banker, clay, by Lorenzo Mills of Napa;
- Bamboo Teapot and Tree Cups, clay, by Kathy Pallie of San Rafael; and,
- Bird Bud, recycled caste glass, by Patti Wessman of Napa.
The Exhibition will remain at St. Supery Winery through the Mustard Season.
Magique de la Moutard, Melissa Baker's magnificent 5 x 7 oil, which graces 2009 Mustard Festival posters, is offered at silent auction through March 28 when it will go to the high bidder at the Mumm Napa Photo Finish. The bid as of press time is $12,000. Click here for bidding information
