Napa Valley Mustard Festival Announces Winners of Annual Visual Art Competition

Napa Valley, CA ~ The Napa Valley Mustard Festival, non-profit sponsor of the Napa Valley Mustard Festival’s 10th Annual Visual Art Competition, announces this year’s prize winners. With entries from as far away as South Carolina, the jurors have made their decisions.

Two Dimensional Work

First place: Power Quinces by Laura Griffith
Second place: Peek of Blue by Anne Hysell
Third place: “Never Underestimate the Powers of...” by Brigitte McReynolds
Honorable mentions: Mister Mustard by Caroline Hipkiss, Untitled by Judy Theo, and Sunrise Over Angel Island by Robert Grossman.

Three Dimensional Work

First place: Man in the Hand Helping Hand by Douglas Brett
Second place: Seed Sower by Martin Munson
Third place: Aluminum Woman & Man by Bryan Tedrick
Honorable mention: Souvenir by Jackie Hipkiss Avery

This year’s jurors were Simon Blattner, crafter of hand papermaking, Chair of California College of Arts and Crafts and serves on the board of the Sonoma Valley Museum; Linda Fleming, sculptor, Chair of the Sculpture Department of the California College of Arts and Crafts; and Adi Shamir, Dean of Instruction at California College of Arts and Crafts and a principal in her own design firm.
