NEWS NAPA VALLEY MUSTARD FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF ANNUAL VISUAL ART COMPETITION Napa Valley, CA ~ The Napa Valley Mustard Festival, non-profit sponsor of the Napa Valley Mustard Festival's 13th Annual Visual Art Competition, announces this year's prize winners. The exhibit is 46 pieces by 40 artists, and was selected from 160 entries submitted by 72 artists. The competition was open to all California artists, and the jurors have made their decisions. Prizes of $1,000 for First Place, $500 for Second Place, and $250 for Third Place, were awarded in two categories - Two Dimensional

Steve Gillman is most widely known as a site specific sculptor with grand scale installations ranging from the California Veterans' Memorial at the California State Capitol Park; to playful Skyballs emerging from a hilltop landscape; to a temporary installation in downtown Oakland designed to call attention to the problem of parking congestion. Gillman is the owner of Gillman Granite in Oakland and is adept in works of scale and drama as well as the elemental qualities of composition and design in smaller pieces. Kathryn Reasoner has been active as an arts advocate, administrator and consultant for over twenty years, receiving professional recognition for her work in cultural policy, planning and organizational development. Her additional experience includes executive positions with the San Francisco Art Institute and the Richmond Art Center. Reasoner has taught arts administration at universities in California and Japan, and has an undergraduate degree in painting from UC Santa Cruz. Kathryn is presently the Executive Director of the di Rosa Preserve. Jerrold Turner is one of the Bay Area's prominent landscape painters and a founding member of The Outsiders, a group of plein-air painters whose colorful, fauvist style is reminiscent of such groups as the Society of Six and other colorists. Turner has been very influential in the arts in San Francisco and has taught advanced plein-air painting since 1991. Turner has also presented extensively in solo and group exhibitions and his works appear in collections worldwide. Visual Art Competition Exhibit & Artists' Reception
The show was unveiled and sales began at Mustard Magic, The Festival's Grand Opening Event, Saturday, January 28, at The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, in St. Helena. St. Supéry Winery and Vineyards hosts the exhibition from February 4 through April 2, 2006. The winery hosts a wine and hors d'oeuvres reception for artists and the public on Saturday, February 4.
