What was once the slow season in Napa Valley is now a bustling, profitable time of year. The phenomenal change that has taken place during the months of January, February, and March beginning in 1994 is no accident. It is the result of the Napa Valley Mustard Festival, your off-season promotion and advertising program.

The Festival provides an array of opportunities for promotion including participation in events and competitions, sponsorship, and advertising in the Festival and Marketplace programs.

The Festival is overseen by a non-profit Board of Directors. The sensational season of events is produced, promoted, and advertised by Summers-McCann, Inc., a wine country public relations firm.

Prior to the Festival's inception in 1994 a mere 7% of visitors to Napa Valley came during the months of January, February, and March. The season now attracts 27% of the year's visitors and is second only to the summer. As a result of the mustard season promotion, millions of additional dollars in revenue have been generated during the first quarter of each year since 1994. Numerous sponsors have reported increased sales while non-profit organizations have netted substantial proceeds from their mustard season events.

The Napa Valley Mustard Festival is presented by KGO Newstalk AM 810; ABC7, KGO-TV; Sunset Magazine; American Airlines; and the San Francisco Chronicle. Many local, regional, and national businesses, as well as food and wine companies, have contributed funding to make the Napa Valley Mustard Festival possible. You may also become a sponsor through your participation. Restaurants, caterers, food producers, and wineries who participate in at least two of the Napa Valley Mustard Festival's main events - Mustard Magic, The Photo Finish, The Awards, and/or The Marketplace - will be listed as in-kind supporters in the Napa Valley Mustard Festival program. Participate in all four and you will be promoted as a Bronze ($1,000) or Silver ($2,500) sponsor. Make a donation for one of our auctions! Let us know the value of your contribution. Combine your in-kind sponsorship with cash to promote your business at a higher sponsorship level. The Napa Valley Mustard Festival supports and promotes a number of non-profit events that take place during the mustard season. Organizations including Dreamweavers Theatre, Friends of the Fair, Napa Valley Cultural Alliance, Napa Valley Museum, Napa Valley Opera House, Napa Valley Unified Education Foundation, Sharpsteen Museum, Solano College Theatre Dept, and high school music and drama departments have benefited from net proceeds of Napa Valley Mustard Festival-produced events.

The programs are excellent marketing vehicles which will connect your business with positive Festival promotions. You will reach thousands upon thousands of consumers, locally and regionally, as well as visitors to the Napa Valley, and numerous wine country businesses. One hundred and fifty thousand copies (or more) of the eleventh annual official publication will be printed on glossy paper. Distribution will include insertion in the San Francisco Chronicle (to select zip codes), Napa Valley Register, St. Helena Star/Weekly Calistogan, and Sonoma Index-Tribune, as well as distribution by Wine Country This Week & Real Estate Reader, and placement at Festival events throughout the mustard season. Sixty thousand copies of The Marketplace program printed on book paper, with a glossy cover, will be inserted in the Napa Valley Register and distributed through the California Visitor Reveiw, Real Estate Reader, and at Mustard Festival events.

Advertisements placed on the Festival inside front, inside back, and back covers will also be featured in The Marketplace program. The programs are a cost effective means of reaching a substantial group of both wine country residents and visitors, specifically targeting food, wine, and art connoisseurs.

Qualifying cash sponsorships of $2,500 or more include complimentary display advertising, as well as other benefits. The deadline for advertising placement in the main festival program is December 1, 2003.
