Dear Potential Sponsor/Advertiser:

What was once the slow season in Napa Valley is now a bustling, profitable time of year. The phenomenal change that has taken place during the months of January, February, and March beginning in 1994 is no accident. It is the result of the Napa Valley Mustard Festival, your off season promotion and advertising program. Despite corporate cutbacks related to a generally slowing economy, the eighth annual festival in 2001 was the most successful ever.

The Festival is a 501(c)(04) community service organization, and is overseen by a non-profit board of directors. The sensational season of events was created and is produced, promoted, and advertised by Summers-McCann, Inc., a wine country public relations firm.

The Festival provides an array of opportunities for promotion including participation in events, sponsorship, and advertising in the Festival and Marketplace programs.

The programs are excellent marketing vehicles which will connect your business with positive Festival promotions. You will reach thousands upon thousands of consumers, locally and regionally, as well as visitors to the Napa Valley, and numerous wine country businesses. One hundred and fifty thousand copies (or more) of the ninth annual official publication will be printed on glossy paper. Distribution will include insertion in the San Francisco Chronicle (to select zip codes), Napa Valley Register, St. Helena Star/Weekly Calistogan, and Sonoma Index-Tribune, as well as distribution by California Visitor Review & Real Estate Reader, and placement at Festival events throughout the mustard season. Sixty thousand copies of The Marketplace program printed on book paper, with a glossy cover, will be inserted in the Napa Valley Register and distributed through the California Visitor Reveiw, Real Estate Reader, and at the events.

We continue our successful partnership with world famed artist Guy Buffet in 2002 with his second original illustration created especially for the Mustard Festival. His delightful artwork adds zest and humor to Mustard Festival posters, programs, marketing materials, and merchandise. Advertisements placed on the Festival inside front, inside back, and back covers will also be featured in The Marketplace program. The programs are a cost effective means of reaching a substantial group of both local residents and visitors, specifically targeting food, wine, and art connoisseurs.

Qualifying cash sponsorships of $2,500 or more include complimentary display advertising in the publication, as well as other benefits. Please see the Sponsorship Guidelines for details.

Take advantage of the opportunities this fantastic promotion offers! The deadline for advertising placement is November 16, 2001. It is critical that we finish our 2002 program before the onset of the holiday season. Sponsorship Guidelines are available on this website, and also as a PDF download. Event and Destination Program participation information and forms are available by contacting the event producer.

We look forward to working with you during the 2002 mustard season. Please feel free to contact us by telephone, fax, or e-mail.

Sincerely,

Summers-McCann, Inc. Public Relations

2002 Sponsorship Opportunities

The Napa Valley Mustard Festival - now entering its ninth year of production - is a highly successful two month promotion. It has transformed the wine country's slowest months into a highly touted season when visitors come to enjoy spectacular scenery and unique, extravagant food, wine, and art events. Spiced throughout with mustard, the condiment, the mustard season is a beautiful time of year when wild mustard blooms, carpeting vineyards, valleys, and hillsides with gold.

The Festival seeks exposure for sponsors through events, advertising, press coverage, and a variety of promotions. The Festival supports and promotes the international mustard industry through the World-Wide Mustard Competition and exposure at events. It brings an extensive network of sponsors together in Napa Valley for The Marketplace, a weekend of awards and festivities. The Festival has been presented by Visa U.S.A. Inc., ABC Channel 7, KGO Newstalk AM 810, the San Francisco Chronicle, and Sunset Magazine. The Festival's extensive 2001 sponsorship list included American Airlines, Auberge du Soleil, Beaverton Foods, Bestfoods Grocery, Fiji Water, Dean & DeLuca, Embassy Suites, French's Mustard, Grey Poupon, Smothers European Mercedes-Benz, Mumm Napa Valley, Napa Valley Wine Train, Sub-Zero Distributors, Viking Range Company, Wolf Range, and Vintage Estates. For a complete list of 2001 sponsors please click here.

Both national and regional sponsors are invited to take advantage of the opportunities for long term exposure. Additional revenues generated in Northern California's wine country by mustard season promotions are estimated to have exceeded $100 million each year. Active hands-on sponsors have reaped rich rewards. A non-profit community service organization, the Napa Valley Mustard Festival unites Napa Valley communities, businesses, and events to promote the mustard season. It increases revenues for businesses and non-profit organizations during this beautiful time of year, and introduces the public to the arts, culture, and agriculture of Napa Valley. Numerous non-profit organizations have participated in and benefited from the promotion. The Napa Valley Mustard Festival, produced by Summers-McCann Inc. Public Relations, is seeking corporate sponsorship to underwrite the 2002 budget of approximately $950,000.

The Napa Valley Mustard Festival is a 501(c)(04) community service organization.
